What is the Single Gourmet?

We are a social dining club. We offer single men and women the opportunity to come together, relax, and enjoy fine dining, exciting travel, and fun-filled events.

Restaurants are selected to reflect the broad cuisine available in the greater Boston area. Each month, we offer a variety of dining experiences, from traditional haute cuisine to exciting new discoveries. Wine is often included to complement your dinner. The Single Gourmet also offers special events and the opportunity to travel with your peers on exciting, fun-filled trips, both here and abroad.

Back to questions

What does it cost?
Membership dues are $375.00 for the year. The cost per meal is listed in our newsletter. The price always includes the full meal, taxes and gratuities, and usually averages from $40 to $80 per person.

Back to questions

How do I become a member?

It's very easy. You can fill out and submit the application on this site, or download the application, print it, and mail or fax it to us with your first year's dues ($375.00). If you mail us your application, be sure to include a check or credit card information.

If you'd like to receive the membership application or the current newsletter by mail, call 617-497-0444, and we'll be happy to send them to you.

Back to questions

How many people attend each event?

Every event is attended by the Single Gourmet Host who introduces new members to each other and other members.

Event attendance varies, usually from 12-40 members. Our membership consists of about three men to every five women. Single Gourmet is not a dating service, but we realize our members want a comfortable mix of men and women to ensure lively events.

Back to questions

How does the mix of ages work?
Very well. We have members in their twenties through sixties. For dining, we often do pre-arranged seating.

Back to questions

Do people arrive alone?
Most of our members come by themselves, but occasionally two friends will come together or members will bring guests. Non-members may come as the guest of a member. Single Gourmet staff members attend every event and make introductions. Members will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, too.

Back to questions

Will my name, phone number or address ever be given out to anyone?

No. We do not sell or lend our membership list to anyone. If you wish to contact someone after an event but didn't get his/her contact information, we will be happy to call him/her on your behalf. We've received requests like this from both men and women, many of which have resulted in friendships, dating, engagements, and even marriage.

Back to questions

Is there a dress code?

While there is no established dress code, the newsletter will suggest the appropriate dress for each event. Men generally wear jackets. Some functions are semi-casual while others require more formal attire.

Back to questions

Can you accommodate dietary preferences?

Of course. Just tell us your dietary preferences/restrictions when you make a reservation for an event. Menu items are normally listed in the newsletter under "Event Description". We'll go out of our way to make your dining experience is as enjoyable as possible.

Back to questions

Is smoking allowed?

With the current emphasis on smoke-free environments, we request that our members and guests refrain from smoking at the dinner table. However, most restaurants provide areas where you can smoke.

Back to questions

Are there other clubs?

Yes! There are thriving Single Gourmet chapters in New York, LA, Chicago, San Francisco, and 17 other cities. You may attend dinners in any of these cities when you travel.
